Fiber and Weight-Loss Effects, Lactose Intolerance Aid, Anti-Ulcer Properties

Since chitin acts like a fiber, it is largely indigestible and passes through the gut mostly unchanged. These fiber-like properties can be used to replace calories in foods. Research has shown that chickens fed a form of chitin with their feed were leaner than chickens fed regular feed.

As an added benefit, the study also found that chitin relieved the lactose intolerance caused by feeds containing whey, a cheese by-product containing 70 percent lactose, says Dr. John Zikakis, professor emeritus of the University of Delaware, who performed much of the research of chitin-fed chickens.

Normally, whey had limited use in animal feed, since it can lead to diarrhea. But chickens fed a substantial level of whey and chitin did not develop diarrhea, he notes. It is thought that this same effect may be achieved in humans.

Research has shown that general bowel function and regularity improve with the use of dietary chitin. In animal studies, when gerbils were fed diets supplemented with chitin, the animals became healthier, with improved vigor. Other experiments demonstrated that when chitin was added to bread and then fed to gerbils, the same health benefits resulted. Researchers speculate that improved regularity also would result in humans who ingest modest amounts of chitin. Chitosan also has been shown to have antacid and anti-ulcer activity in rats and dogs. Let’s face it, saturated fat is what tastes best to us. Many of us were raised on it. It’s the “American Diet”. It’s also the reason why Americans are the heaviest people sin the world, heavier than the Germans, the British, the Scandinavians, even our neighbors to the north, the Canadians. Most of us are not going to change.

The American Heart Association recommends that we get no more than 30% of our calories from fat. The average American gets 55% from fat, and most of that from the most unhealthy of fats, the saturated animal fats, which are so dangerous to our health. This is the fat that clogs our arteries leading to heart attacks, strokes, congestive heart failure, diabetes, all types of cancers, and simply shortens our lives, usually making the last few years miserable and painful. Those with resources usually end up spending tens of thousands on heart bypasses, heart and artery replacements, and all sorts of dangerous heart and cholesterol medications. Our diet is simply making the medical profession and the pharmaceutical companies richer by the day. No wonder, why information on simple long-term weight reduction, like chitin, is concealed from the public and pooh-pooed by the medical establishment. They are getting rich off you being sick. They really do not want you to know about chitin, if they can help it. The reason: they can’t patent it and sell it to you for $10 a capsule! If they could, you would be buying chitin for $240 a bottle rather than the usual $25 to $15 a bottle.

How can only 4 capsules a day really help me lose weight?

Only four capsules a day can soak up to 12 grams of saturated animal fats every day, which is about 130 calories. That adds up to about 4000 calories a month. These are FAT CALORIES, the type that make you fat, NOT the proteins and carbohydrates that we need to live. It’s not the proteins and carbohydrates that are making you fat and unhealthy. IT IS THE FAT. And if you take 4 capsules with lunch and 4 with dinner that will be 8000 calories of fat a month, equivalent to at least 3 pounds. Add that up over a year and it’s nearly 40 pounds. Of course, you can take all the chitin you want to achieve your desired results.

 Add that 20-minute walk, jog or exercise routine and the results will astound you. Eat a few less fats and sugars and watch the pounds melt off. Just remember one thing, chitin keeps that weight off permanently. You can surf the web and spend a fortune on all sorts of nostrums of dubious value, but they all have one big problem: yo-yo, up and down dieting that is far more dangerous than the weight you carried before.

Who can take chitin?

Anyone who is overweight or suffering from high cholesterol, irritable bowel syndrome and other problems described here can benefit from taking chitin: the elderly, the middle aged, even children. People with pre-existing illnesses, pregnant or lactating women are advised to consult a physician before taking any supplement.

There are over 300 published scientific studies on the effects of chitin and chitosan. Not a single adverse side effect has been identified. Chitin and chitosan have been used for decades in Japan with no side effects. It is safe for all ages of people.

I have high LDL or bad cholesterol levels. Will chitin help me?

People who eat excess fats usually suffer from high cholesterol and triglydercides. The reason is obvious: this condition usually originates or is made far worse by eating saturated animal fats. When chitin soaks up this excess fat, it does not enter your blood system and leave those dangerous deposits in your arteries and vital organs. Your cholesterol levels decline naturally without the use of dangerous and very expensive drugs with frightening side effects.

What if I’m lazy and don’t want to diet or exercise? So can I still eat the foods I love and lose weight?

You don’t have to change a thing about your life for chitin to work. It would be better if you did, but this is one time you can obtain benefits without doing a thing except take your chitin capsules before each fattening meal. Let’s say you want prime rib. Just take, say, 6 capsules of chitin and enjoy yourself. You’re not being asked to stop eating the foods you like as long as you faithfully take your chitin with your fattening meals.

Studies have shown that animals fed pure cholesterol in their feed were also given chitin. The result was that their cholesterol levels did not increase at all. The control animals, which were fed the cholesterol without chitin saw their cholesterol levels go through the roof.

The fact is that you are going to enjoy all sorts of health benefits when taking chitin. You are going to become a healthier person while losing weight. If you take your chitin regularly before each fattening meal, you are going to keep this weight off

Why haven’t I heard of Chitin Before?

Chitin is a unique substance. There is no other substance like it in the world. The Japanese have been using it for decades as a dietary supplement. They actually developed it to treat other medical conditions that we have outlined here. It was during their extensive research that it was learned that chitin and chitosan. There has never been a safe, dietary supplement that would absorb fat, soak it up, bind it and pass it through the digestive system and excrete it without being digested. It’s been used in the U.S. now for about two years. It has been used by almost 2 million Americans and there have been no reported adverse side effects and lots of reports that it helped these people solve their weight loss problems. I’m 41 years old and have always been obese. I have tried every diet in the world to lose this weight. I didn’t want to be slim, just healthy. I tried them all, every last one of them. Sometimes I would lose some weight but in a few weeks I gained it all back and finally I tipped the scales at 330 pounds. I stand 6 ft tall. I visited my doctor for a check up and he told me that he didn’t think I would live to see 45. Not only was I 150 pounds over weight but my cholesterol levels were through he ceiling. In March of 1996, I was diagnosed with colon cancer. In April, I had surgery to remove the tumor. After surgery, the doctor told me I had a 75 percent chance that the cancer would return within two years. He advised me to have a full round of chemotherapy to reduce the chance of recurrence to 55 percent. I chose not to have the chemotherapy. I started seeing a nutritionist. He told me about chitin, and I began to take 3 tablets per day (in addition to many other supplements). In July of 1996, I had surgery to repair a hernia from the colon surgery. I continued to take the chitin and my other supplements, and I stayed well and strong until May 1997, when a routine blood test indicated the cancer had recurred. At this time, I began to take 30 tablets of chitin per day to prepare myself for the surgery I knew I would have to have. After many more tests, I had more abdominal surgery on June 30th. But this time, I was amazed at how quickly I began to heal. Even the doctors and nurses were amazed, and I was released from the hospital two days earlier than usual. In fact, I felt so good I was back in my Tai Chi class the week after surgery. I am back on my maintenance program of three 250mg. capsules of chitin per day, and I look healthy and feel wonderful. I will continue to be monitored every three months by my oncologist, and I hope to win this battle against cancer. And I am so glad to have a product like chitin, which has so dramatically improved my quality of life.
